MIKIBU BONSAI

TRAINING IN THE PRETORIA REGION

The course will take place on a Saturday.

The aim of the course is to give you a basic background as well as hands on knowledge regarding the art of bonsai.

THE COURST-. WILL INCLUDE:

Basic concepts on structuring and styling techniques, pruning, wiring and repotting.

Daily care which includes watering, pests and insect controlling, application of fertilisers, etc

Time: 8h00 to 16h00

Cost: R200 pp (R115 for scholars) which includes a manual for beginners as well as a light lunch. tea/coffee, etc.

What to bring: Garden pruning shears, wire cutter, various gauges of aluminium or copper wire, bonsai or growing pots, ladies used silk stockings or raffia to protect the bark from wire damage.

In order to get the hands-on feeling with regard to wiring, styling, etc, you are kind requested to bring one of the following Juniper species on which you will learn some of the bonsai techniques.

Juniperus procumbens Nana ; Juniperus x-media "Blaauw; Juniperus chinensis "Grey owl" or Juniperus chinensis "gold coast". Apart from the above, you are also welcome to bring, one of your own trees, where I can help you, should time permit.

Bonsai Soil mix will be available.
